quivering for saxophone, e-guitar, double bass, piano & percussion
Distinctive layers are set into motion. These layers are defined by their sonic material, notation, rhythmical identities and transformations. One is stable and begins to unfold in a systematic way. Another is unstable, out-of-focus even, evolving and transforming erratically. Intermittently, a third layer, that is static albeit with slight perception changes, appears and disappears. Over time, the layers begin to influence the others. The stable begins to de-stabilize while the erratic begins to become more into focus and grounded. The material sways back in forth in its attempt to co-exist and maintain an identity while negotiating the impact of the other. The piece ends in a fragile middle ground that is in between stable and unstable, slightly quivering.
Premiered by Vertixe Sonora, CGAG Concert Series. Santiago de Compostela, Spain. 2016
